Page Four:    Engine Work

February 6, 2002

The engine block returns from the machine shop, bored for the new pistons. This is an MGB 1800cc five main bearing high compression engine put in the car by a previous owner. Since the original 1500cc engine is lost, and the 1800 provides better drivability, I decide to stick with it. If I locate a good 1500cc engine in the future and decide I want to give up a little power for the sake of authenticity, I can always swap engines at that time.

The valve cover and other pieces are primed and awaiting paint.

Brooklands owner Matt Graham paints the engine components.
