The MGA Restoration Project

Page Eleven:    Slow Progress

Progress slows in the late spring and early summer, and not much gets done between May and August as the restoration job competes for Brooklands' attention with scores of other customers' seasonal repairs. But the tires and wheels are finally here!

The wide-whitewall B F Goodrich Silvertown Radials, actually made by Michelin, carry a ton of warning labels including the admonition to inflate them to 35 psi and the rather obvious warning that Any objects left in the tire may cut the tube and cause the tube to lose air.

Meanwhile, the dashboard has been stripped and is ready to paint...

...with the custom mixed Glacier Blue paint that has recently arrived from PPG. The current PPG paint code for Glacier Blue is DAR14035 (formerly 11825), which they call "Tahitian Blue".

The color was matched from a reasonably-well-protected patch under the hood, and a drop of the new paint applied to the patch above shows that even when wet, the color match is almost perfect.

October 22, 2002: Introduction of the new MG XPower SV

From MG's press release...

Nearly 70 years ago, MG produced the K3 Magnette - an ultra high-performance supercharged road and track racer. K3 was commissioned and produced for the enthusiastic owner who wanted to drive to a race, compete, win and drive home again.

In keeping with this tradition, the XPower SV Club Sport proposition will allow customers to either buy a complete XPower model ready for road and track or to enhance the specification of their car with competition derived parts.

The XPower SV Club Sport features a more powerful 5.0-litre V8 with 410bhp, a 0-62mph (100km/h) of c4.4 seconds and a top speed limited to 195mph (314km/h).

MG XPower SV UK prices will start at £65,000.
