This is an unusual RCA Victor promotional record I recently obtained. It was aimed at jukebox
operators and plugged new releases on Bluebird records. This record is a 10" 78, pressed in
vinyl. It's longer than most 10 78s, almost five minutes per side. It's interesting because if
it's part of a series of such records, they're pretty scarce, suggesting that the series
was suddenly discontinued after a short run. If it's a one-off it's hard to know what
inspired it. This record appears to have been released in October of 1949, because an ad
ran in the October 29th issue of Billboard (see below) promoting many of the same
releases on 45 in addition to 78. If anyone has any more information on it
please let me know.
